Welcome to Lower Moss Wood...

Tony Warburton to be our first patron

I'm pleased to announce that we have our first patron for the charity. Tony Warburton, the founder and curator of the World Owl Trust at Muncaster Castle, Cumbria has agreed to come on board and endorse Lower Moss Wood. The first time I met Tony was back in 1988 when he was giving a talk on owls at the oakley Centre in Crewe. At the time he was pioneering th Barn Owl Breed and Release Scheme. In his talk he had highlighted the plight of our native British barn owland how in Cheshire the numbers had plummeted from more than 200 pairs in the 1930s to around 15 in 1985. His talk had a huge impact on me so as soon as I took over as warden I set up the Lowr Moss Wood Barn Owl Breed and Release Scheme.
